Trofeo Motorsport has been forced to postpone this weekend’s scheduled debut of its first Lamborghini Huracan GT3 at Phillip Island.
The Melbourne outfit had planned to run its newly purchased Huracan in the Australian GT meeting but a delay in receiving paperwork from the government in Canberra has seen the team unable to take delivery of its car from customs.
The Huracan arrived in Australia on Sunday but is currently being held at Gibson Freight in Melbourne until the necessary paperwork is received.
Team boss Jim Manolios was set to pilot the entry alongside Ryan Millier at the Victorian circuit.
The car will now make its debut at the Australian GT sprint event at the Castrol Edge Townsville 400 in July.
Trofeo plans to take delivery of two further Huracans later this year.
Although disappointed to miss Phillip Island, team owner Jim Manolios has now signed off on a multi-year customer sports program backed by the Italian manufacturer.
The arrangement will see Trofeo Motorsport become the official Lamborghini distributor and operate an Australian GT program.
“It is a very significant and it completes Trofeo Motorsport’s business plan,” Manolios told Speedcafe.com.
“We have received a lot of interest in the cars so it should be great.”
The Australian GT Championship meeting will be broadcast live on Speedcafe.com over the weekend.
